Because Babylist Health orders are through insurance, the process of getting your breast pump looks different than a retail purchase. Before we can ship your pump, we have to make sure we have all the correct paperwork and information to ensure insurance will approve your claim. Typically this looks like getting a valid prescription and verifying we send your pump during your plan's approved shipping window. Below is a breakout of the basic steps we take to complete your order once it is placed and how you can track them using your order status page.
Verify your insurance.
We run an immediate check of your insurance at checkout. Some plans pass this check but are marked as needing manual review. This may mean your plan has unique requirements around breast pumps or a more narrow list of eligible breast suppliers you can work with. Any plans flagged for review are looked at as soon as possible. You can see this process on your order status page. If your does need a manual review, you will see options to upload your member ID card. Doing so can help speed up our review process.
Get your prescription.
We use whatever provider information we receive from you to reach out to your doctor directly for your valid prescription. If we do not have provider information from you, we will rely on you to get a prescription from your doctor. You can always download our template from your order status page.
There are several parts to a prescription that make it valid and acceptable to get your breast pump covered by insurance. Click here to learn more about why your prescription may not be valid.
